Oh Lord, Won't You Buy Me.....

Well, it has arrived. Friday. And I'm about whooooooped out.  The coffee is good.  I woke up at 11:30, 12:30, and about two or three or four other times - but didn't see the clock those times.  Just trying to get comfortable, arm asleep, dog in the way, and so forth.  I think I might get a couple of new pillow and see if that will help give me some groovy rejuvy!

Next week starts the season of having weeks that are NOT full work weeks.  I am looking forward to next week as I have a vac day planned in the middle of the week.  I didn't want to miss our office Thanksgiving meal and I needed to be off on Thursday anyway to go to a financial wealth management with George.  That sounds so funny.  Wealth Management?  Us?  I mean really?  If we are are so wealthy we need to see someone to manage it,  why do I still have blue linoleum?  Oh, it's b/c I still have blue linoleum?  We've saved our money eh?

Trust me, "wealthy, we IS NOT", however, I guess we should go and try to protect, multiply, spare, and figure out how to reserve what little we DO have. In reality this is more of a retirement meeting. A fellow Lispcomb-ite, will lead us through.  So I was going to have to leave early for that appointment next week and wasn't wanting to.  Now I don't have to worry about it.  I'll just be off already.  But in reality a work week should be a 4 day a week thing - even if in longer hours.  I really struggle to get done what we need in a two day versus 5 day structure.  It's not balanced.  Especially for women in our society.  Meeting business needs but then trying to care for a household.  It's not like you can grab a beer and sit on a mower for two hours and call it done.  There's cleaning (a whole 'nother subset of to do's), laundry, ironing, grocerying, keeping of the calendaring, planning, organizing, project management, shopping for birthdays, clothes, and household needs, and the list goes on.  Try to add ANY fun (out to eat, meeting friends, reading, playing a PC game) in the mix and your to do list goes out the window for the weekend.  I can't say life isn't fun sometimes with all that we do, but then I like my house to be clean and it's not often like I want it.  That makes me....I'm trying to think of the word....crazy is the best I can think of.  I like the house to be a certain way and I'm non functional if not.  For example, before I will ever cook - the kitchen has to be perfect.  So often when I am really needing some time off - it's b/c I'm feeling anxious about not getting things done around here.  Every woman likes their nest to be blessed.  They take pride in their home.  I like mine and I like to keep it nice.  It's a struggle to keep it up.  I'm against the "Piles" of a --not a hoarder - but almost.  At least most of his piles are neat.  Just stuff stacked everywhere.  Oh my.  When I truly clean - like when company is coming - it just all goes in a box.  He knows to get it out of the way or I'll mix up all his piles.  So yeah, every weekend I think we have ALL this time to work on things.  Every Friday there is this glimmer of hope.  And EVERY Sunday night and Monday Morning blues hit me with, "but I didn't get this done, nor this".  We do make some progress, but alas, it's never good enough and the reason is that there is not a work/life balance in a woman's schedule.  I guess it's our fault for wanting it all huh?  Maybe there is something to say for being home, barefoot, and pregnant.  hahaha.  Neither way gets me anything but BLUE linoleum so what's the point?

One day the old Ocean Blue will be gone.  It's getting closer!  But the den furniture comes first, then the Smart TV, then we work on flooring.  ;-)  Actually, truth be known, the blue linoleum has not been too awfully bad - it's not too ugly and to soothe my soul I call it my ocean floor and I have pictures of Greece along my kitchen walls and the kitchen is sortof a Grecian/Italian meets French - kind of flair.  It works.  I've made it work.  But the blue - it was the first thing I really was thinking would go.

They way my mind works is to have everything clean, functional, efficient, and pleasing.  I like for others to be comfortable in my world and I like my world free of chaos, neat lines, and full of good chi. But it always comes at a price.  I heard this song yesterday and it reminded me of me!  I probably sing about as good too!

Oh Lord, Won't Ya Buy Me a Mercedes Bendz - Janis Joplin

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a color TV?
Dialing For Dollars is trying to find me.
I wait for delivery each day until three,
So oh Lord, won't you buy me a color TV?
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a night on the town?
I'm counting on you, Lord, please don't let me down.
Prove that you love me and buy the next round,
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a night on the town?
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends,
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

My Sonster version:

Oh Lord**, won't you buy me a new type of floor
I am just so tired and don't want the blue any more.
I've worked so hard on every chore
So oh Lord, won't you buy me a new type of floor?

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a new Smart TV
I go to my friends house as they show theirs to me
I love the TV shows in their reality
So Oh Lord, won't you buy me a new Smart TV

Oh Lord, won't you buy me some more furniture
I need somewhere to sit and read my literature
Itchy and Scratchy*, need to go that's for sure
So oh Lord, won't you buy me some more furniture.

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a new iphone X.
I need some more memory, one that stores and protects
Need to download and update and all its effects
So oh Lord, won't you buy me an new iphone X.

*Itchy and Scratchy is the current sofa and chair.

**Could be substituted for Santa this time of year

I should probably not add any more verses at this time due to the marriage protection policy.  ;-)

Well, at the school dinner and Silent Auction yesterday we had a nice time.  It was Katy's school, a fundraiser.  We met at home and was a bit late getting there.  However dinner was good.  It was BBQ and a potato bar.

Then we went along the walls of the school and bid on meals and gift cards.  And then we went in to bid on "stuff" - like baskets, art work, etc.  We were outbid on the "stuff".  But we ended up getting a lot of gift cards.  I was ignoring the fast food, but George didn't.  Anyway we ended up with Fazoli, IHOP, Sonic, Dairy Queen, Bellacino's, and Penn Station.  All were either $25 or two meals.  We got most of it for half the price of the value, so that was wonderful.  We'll probably use it as we are out and about Christmas shopping or after church.

So the heat was off when we got home last night - the annual spousal thermostat olympics have begun.  I went to bed wrapped in a quilt, which was probably one reason I didn't sleep well - I got all tangled up in it.  lol

Well, I better go, duty is calling.  Much progress on things this week.  But much left to do!

Ya'll be good and be safe.  Dog Trims tomorrow, Christmas shopping, meeting George's sister for family photo viewing (all his Mom's collected photos at the house to decide what to do with them) and then out to eat.  Busy full day tomorrow.

  1. There is no doubt about it the heat is on here at my house. It was 24 degrees outside when I woke up this morning and to my surprise the first snowfall of the season was on the ground. No much but just a covering. Yes, the heat stays on from here till sometime in May I imagine. I had to laugh at your rendition of that song! Now I'll be singing it all day long...I don't have blue flooring but I do have a lot that needs to be done here so maybe I'll change up the words bit to fit. Have a fantastic Friday!
