A Lost Cake Order, A New Filing System, and "I LOVE ME" Song

Well, ran to Publix on the way to work yesterday and the big sheet cake was not ready.  Matter of fact, they did not even have the order.  So one wonders what happened.  There was an African American lady there at the counter that took my order.  Very pleasant and seemed to be doing a good job.  Did she lose the order?  Did she throw it away by accident?  Did she do that on purpose?  We had a very pleasant encounter when I ordered and I complimented her on her cake decorating abilities.  So I don't think if it was on purpose it was directed at me. She might have been wanting to do that to her coworkers though.  Thank goodness I had my receipt.  So that they could make a full sheet cake and I'd come back at lunch time.  Luckily we had time.  This was the Donelson Publix and not the one near me.  Had it been the one near me, I'd have had to just go find 75 cupcakes and go on b/c I would not have driven back.

I began working on my file system at work and then had a sales orientation and did emails and so forth.

As it turned out my assistant and I left and went to grab a sit down lunch at a place called My Three Amigos or The Three Amigos - something like that.  George says it was really good.  I think I've eaten there twice and both times thought it was a little "off".  We both got fajitas.  The salsa was good, the meat tasted weird, and so did the veggies - and their water tasted like it was coming through some really bad and old pipes.  We ate on the porch.  The porch was raggedy and the insides was dark and dingy.  You know me - I was about ready to tear the place down for them and rebuild it.  The place has such potential but needs a redo.  I did have more chips/salsa than I meant to.

Then we went to Publix, got the cake and drove to the plant location.  And then had to go get the cart and take it to the break room, slowly and carefully.  And I got a dolly and took the awards boxes back to the break room.  And we unpacked those and set them out with the service award letters.

Then we did our service award meetings and everyone had cake.  There was an ice cream truck outside.  I did not participate, other than cut and serve the cake.  I am proud that I can now say no to dessert.  With the cleansing day chocolate in me - it satisfies me for the week!

Then we cleaned up and put the dolly and the cart up and headed back to the office.  By the time we got back I was zonked:  mentally, physically, and was so sleepy.  I hit a WALL.

However, a project I had started on earlier was my filing system.  I converted it from the "work center" mode to "43 file system" (12 months, and 31 days).  At first this seemed off the wall to me, but given there is so much paperwork and so much to process and work on - this seems to be the best "tickler" file.  I still have the upcoming benefits and payroll admin in it's own little system on a monthly basis and I refuse to mix all that in.  I will keep it in its "likeness" and keep it "pure" and not mix it in with the other.  I do have ticklers to "do the benefits" when it is time by a rolling sign in a cover sheet that rolls from month to month.  I have several of those.

So, they say for each numbered day - like today I'll be working in folder #9 b/c it is the 9th day of May - so for each numbered day you take the tasks and break it up b/w A, B, and C in priority.  This is a leap of faith.

I still have a weekly PENDING file though.  Things that I am waiting on from someone else.  So that when that "item" is finished I can know where the paperwork is.  I won't forget to check either b/c it is in front of the other files.  So I can't help but see it.  I still have some reference files that I go to for information quite often and that is in BACK of the 43 file system and all of the tabs are to the RIGHT side.  I also have tabs for calendars, forms, and my daily worksheet where I track what I work on by hour, the interruptions, calls, make note of urgent to do's and so forth.  All those files are in front b/c I use them every day and their tabs are all to the left.  My 43 files all have tabs in the center.  I'm not sure why I'd not through about sectioning off the various files by having the tabs on the left or the right or the center, but it makes sense.   I saw this by googling file systems.

I think we do quite well considering all the paperwork that comes through.

And this is the rare time I talked about work so enjoy b/c I probably won't for a long time.  Hopefully one can't be dinged for discussing cakes from Publix and file systems as long as you don't go into what it in them.  Nothing offensive there.

Isn't it a shame now that we live our lives worried about offending people?  They literally are offended now if you sneeze.  Our world is so selfish.  So selfish it's just obnoxious.  lol

That reminds me of a song that I heard that make me laugh - Meghan Trainor sings it.  Matter of fact she helped write it.  If you go to YouTube you can watch the video.

But here is the lyrics to a song - I guess it is called "I LOVE ME".  Well I guess we all DO love ourselves.  We are all selfish beings.  Might as well make fun of the fact.

Lyrics

I love me, hey
I love me, hey
I don't know about you, but baby I love me
Now everybody say, hey-hey-hey
Oh, hey-hey-hey, I love me
Hey-hey-hey, I love me
They gon' say all kinds of things
They'll make jokes about my name
They gon' try to clip my wings, but I'm gon fly, I'm gon' fly
They'll try to play me like a game
I'll bet they're too scared of the fame
But I can see clear when looking at the mirror
Saying God made me just right
I love me, I love me
I don't know about you, but baby I love me
Now everybody say, hey-hey-hey
Oh, hey-hey-hey, I love me
Hey-hey-hey, I love me
Because I'm sexy and it ain't my fault
I ain't waiting on nobody's call
You don't want me baby, that's your lost (your lost)
I'll be fine, I'll be fine
And you can tell by the way I talk (you hear me?)
And you can tell by the way I walk (two stepping baby)
I can see clear when looking at the mirror
Saying God made me just right
I love me, I love me
I don't know about you, but baby I love me
Now everybody say, hey-hey-hey
Oh, hey-hey-hey, I love me
Hey-hey-hey, I love me
I don't mean to brag, I don't mean to boast
I love all y'all, but I love me the most
I don't mean to brag, I don't mean to boast
I love all y'all, but I love me the most
Go and raise your glass, give yourself a toast
I love all y'all, but I love me the most
I don't mean to brag, I don't mean to boast
I love all y'all, but I
I love me (I love me) I love me (I love me)
I don't know about you (I don't know about you)
But baby I love me (Baby I love me)
Now everybody sing, hey-hey-hey, hey-hey-hey
I love me hey-hey-hey, I love me
Everybody sing, hey-hey-hey
I love me, and you love you
Do you love you? I love me
Me too

Well anyway, so I hit "my wall" and had to work hard to push through the rest of the day. My guess is the lack of protein on cleanse day the day before, and all the moving around yesterday - moving sheet cakes, moving boxes, driving all over the place, redoing files - just took all my energy.  But I came home and George had fixed a lovely chicken dinner with corn and some dreamy cooked up carrots - I was so happy to see some veggies.  And I fixed brownies for tonight's Bible Study and also some hummus.  And then grabbed a glass of wine and George and I finished the LAST Soprano show.  It ended oddly.

And that was that.

Well, I better go - much to try and get done today.  Then home for Bible Study. The house is what it is.  Is in fairly good shape but not perfected.  I didn't have time to do any cleaning but I did work on the kitchen some this morning.

Ya'll have a great day!  At least I feel refreshed somewhat this morning after a good nights sleep.  And I'm going for my shake this morning - chocolate one.

  1. I think you are going to love that filing system. With all you have to do it can't hurt. Hardly seems possible it is Wednesday already and your Bible Study night. It certainly helps to make going over the hump of the week with a positive note. Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

  2. What a shame about the cake not being there, hope the lady who took the order hasn't gone off sick maybe that is the reason she forgot about it.....I like the sound of your new filing system it would bamboozel me ..but then lots of things do that to me LOL....I look forward to hearing how it works out over the following weeks. Can hardly believe tomorrow is Thursday only one more day before your weekend....night night. Xxx
